Creation of a glide path

The creation of a glide path is indispensable for ensuring successful endodontic treatments. This step facilitates the correct estimation of the anatomy of the root canal, thus ensuring that the subsequently used files for root canal preparation work safely and efficiently. The glide path can be created manually or mechanically — Komet offers a complete solution for both options.

The PathGlider

The PathGlider.

Builds the bridge to mechanical preparation.

The PathGlider is intended for the mechanical creation of a glide path. Made of highly flexible nickel titanium and provided with a non-cutting instrument tip, the PathGlider perfectly follows the course of the canal, thereby not only reducing the risk of inadvertent canal transportation and formation of undesirable steps, but also saving precious time. Our PathGlider offers enormous advantages compared to the manual preparation of the root canal with hand files. Thanks to its taper of .03, the instrument clears the way for the subsequently used mechanical files (e.g. F360: taper .04), making sure that they work safely and efficiently. The PathGlider can be combined with any file system. Its unique kite-shaped cross-section guarantees smooth canal walls and excellent control of the file inside the canal.

Glide from one advantage to the next

Reduced risk of inadvertent canal transportations

Thanks to highly flexible NiTi and the non-cutting instrument tip, the PathGlider is perfectly capable of following the course of the canal, thus reducing the risk of inadvertent canal transportation, undesirable steps etc.

Gentle preparation

Thanks to its taper of .03, the transition from the PathGlider to the subsequently used file system (e.g. F360 – taper .04) is particularly easy and gentle.

Time saved

The PathGlider creates the glide path in considerably less time compared to manual instruments, allowing the user to save precious time.

Easy handling

The PathGlider can be combined with any file system. The unique kite-shaped cross-section ensures the creation of smooth canal walls and excellent control of the file inside the canal.

Step by step.

1. Probing

Initial probing with a hand file and determination of the working length, e.g. with a K- or Patency-File in size 010.

2. Creation of a glide path

Mechanical preparation of the glide path with the PathGlider in size 015. The PathGlider is also available in size 020 and in three lengths (21, 25 and 31 mm).

3. Preparation

Preparation of the root canal, for exaple with F360 or F6 SkyTaper.
